“Here we have a brand new mark for St Peter Port in Guernsey dated 1972 posted from the (then) British Railwas ferry MV Caesarea which was working off station as she had originally been used on the Dover cross channel services. The new paquebot mark, 45 mm in size, must have been done at the post office as the same ink pad was used to also invalidate the stamp and raise a 5d charge. “Why” you may ask? Alas, I haven’t a clue as to why the Office in question managed to invalidate the stamp and than add a Paquebot mark totally unknown to everyone.”  by Mike Dovey, published in TPO-Journal No 322, Volume 67, No 4, Winter 2013, Page 128
