Offered at 1303rd Robert A. Siegel Auction as Lot #605 for 750 USD on 6 December 2023 and sold for 2.400 USD.
The letter is probably from Ted Proud’s collection. Edwin Drechsel reports in his catalogue “The Paquebot Marks of Asia …”, 1984, on page 9 of a cover dated 20 Jan. 1894 which he acquired at a Robson Lowe Auction.
On his earlier website, Sergio Sismondo had indicated a period of use from 23 January to 22 February 1894 for this postmark.
Brian Allcock reported in his article “Aden Paquebot Cancellations – Part 1” (TPO&SEAPOST Journal Vol. 124, Winter 2006, Page 125) about a card cancelled with this mark on 4th December 1903.
